Wedding Videography at The Ravenswood with Alex & Olivia
One of my favourite things about filming weddings is getting to see how people personalise their day. Those invisible strings that tie together family members through the generations, and friends from different parts of your life.
Olivia and Alex’s wedding at The Ravenswood had plenty of personal touches. This is what gives your wedding day soul - celebrating what your love and life together means to you. Not buying into the constant social media churn, not chasing something different for the sake of it.
From the scent boxes in the entryway (which don’t show up on video, but 10/10 for guest experience!), to Olivia’s walking down the aisle to music played by her sister, the nods to aviation in her dad’s speech and photo props, and a love of music continuing into surprise singing waiters and Olivia’s sister playing the song for their first dance.
We had a jam-packed day in the best way. Live music, sparklers, champagne spray, photo booth, singing waiters, heart-shaped sunglasses - the energy was high from start to finish. No performing, just enjoying - and I loved to see it.
The Ravenswood was a great venue, with Alex and the guys getting ready in an adjoining cottage, and Olivia and the girls upstairs.
I loved the grounds of the Ravenswood, with the castle aesthetic of the architecture, especially in the outdoor ceremony space.
The gardens were expansive, with so much to go at during our two couple shoots. From the formal gardens, to the rolling lawn, the lake and the boathouse, and even some woodland vibes too, it was the perfect backdrop for a stroll and a few smooches, and taking ten minutes to soak it all in. It was honestly a pleasure to be a wedding videographer at The Ravenswood, and I hope to get back down to Sussex again soon.
Personal touches give your wedding day some soul, and bring to the forefront the things that are important to you. I can’t tell you what these are, and that’s the magic of it. What are your favourite memories together? What’s the funniest in-joke? Is there a secret bat-signal between you?
You bring your whole, authentic selves to your wedding day, and your wedding film will feel all the more unique and meaningful.
