Wedding Ceremony Readings at Ettington Park Hotel with Olivia and Eddie

If you’ve watched my highlight films, you’ll know that I like to use a lot of audio from the ceremony and speeches.

As I’ve said in another post, personalised vows can be a fantastic way to tell your story. But if that’s not for you, or you’ve got more to say, then including readings in your ceremony is another great way to make your ceremony yours.

But how do you know which readings to choose for your wedding ceremony? Start with the vibe that you want. Funny, or heartfelt, or emotional? A treatise on love, or something more specific to you as a couple? Prose, poetry, or lyrics from a favourite song?

Maybe you’ll choose your readers and give them free rein.

I can’t tell you what will speak to you - do some research, listen to your favourite songs, read some poetry, watch some films!

“When you rise each day, remember; it is a gift to breathe, to think, to feel, to love.”

Olivia and Eddie had three readings in their ceremony. It was the perfect way to include friends and family in a formal part of their day, and really stand in the values that they want to take forward into their marriage.

Being grateful, appreciating each other and the world together, and the importance of friendship. As love stretches through the ages, so did their readings, from Ancient Rome through to Shakespeare. Your readings can invoke so much; the essence of love and the human condition, to a sense of place in Shakespeare’s country. They can pinpoint something specific, and gesture towards the universal.

Your readings are another opportunity to personalise your wedding. It translates so well to video too, as the audio can be uniquely captured and woven into your highlight film.

Your own words, and the words of others, are the strongest way to tell your story.

There was so much to love at Olivia and Eddie’s wedding at Ettington Park Hotel near the Cotswolds. From the architecture of the hotel, to the outdoor ceremony space, to the ruins on the grounds, to the gardens - it was a joy to work. And a joy to attend, I’m sure, with a string quartet, a live band in the evening, and a beer pong table too!

It was a real celebration of life and love, bringing families together, and dancing the night away. A gift to breathe, to think, to feel, to love, and to film.
